SYNOPSIS

     Requires DCA to survey and report on special improvement districts.

An Act requiring the State to survey and report on special improvement districts and supplementing P.L.1972, c.134 (C.40:56-65 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  Prior to the first day of the sixth month next following enactment of P.L.     , c.     (C.        ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill), the Department of Community Affairs shall complete a survey of New Jersey municipalities to ascertain each special improvement district established by ordinance within the State, prepare a list identifying each special improvement district within the State, and publish the list on the department's Internet website.  The department shall update and republish the list at least every two years thereafter.

 

     2.  The Commissioner of Community Affairs may promulgate, pursuant to the "Administrative Procedure Act," P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), such rules and regulations as may be appropriate or necessary to implement the provisions of P.L.     , c.     (C.     ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill).

 

     3.  This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     The bill requires the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) to complete a survey of New Jersey municipalities within six months following the bill's enactment, to ascertain each special improvement district established by ordinance within the State, to prepare a list identifying each special improvement district within the State, and publish the list on the department's Internet website.  The bill requires DCA to update and republish the list every two years thereafter.
