SYNOPSIS
Requires management of senior citizen housing to notify next-of-kin upon resident's death.

An Act concerning senior citizens and supplementing Title 30 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. Any entity that is responsible for the management of any type of housing or facility that is restricted to senior citizens shall adopt guidelines for the notification of next-of-kin in the event of the death of a senior citizen resident.
b. As used in this section, "senior citizen" means a person 55 years of age or older.
c. The Commissioner of Human Services in consultation with the Commissioner of Community Affairs, shall adopt rules and regulations pursuant to the "Administrative Procedure Act," P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B-1 et seq.), necessary to effectuate the purposes of this act.
2. This act shall take effect on the first day of the seventh month after enactment, but the Commissioner of Human Services and the Commissioner of Community Affairs may take such administrative action in advance as shall be necessary for the implementation of this act.
STATEMENT
This bill requires the management of any type of senior citizen housing or senior citizen facility to adopt guidelines for the notification of next-of-kin upon a resident's death.
Specifically, under the provisions of this bill, any entity that is responsible for the management of any type of housing or facility that is restricted to senior citizens is required to adopt these guidelines. Under the bill, "senior citizen" is defined as a person 55 years of age or older.
