SYNOPSIS
Authorizes professional and occupational boards to recognize continuing education approval entities.

An Act concerning professional and occupational continuing education and supplementing P.L.1999, c.403 (C.45:1-7.1 et al.).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. 1[Notwithstanding any law or regulation to the contrary, each] Each1 professional or occupational board specified in section 2 of P.L.1978, c.73 (C.45:1-15) 1[is authorized to] may, consistent with or in addition to such rulemaking authority established under law,1 enact rules and regulations that establish procedures to recognize continuing education approval entities that may approve continuing education courses for holders of a professional or occupational license or certificate of registration or certification to satisfy continuing education requirements for renewal of the license, registration, or certificate issued by that board.
For purposes of this section, "continuing education approval entity" means an association, organization, institution, or other entity which adopts and publishes standards for continuing education courses, evaluates continuing education courses and approves those courses which meet the adopted standards, and publishes lists of the continuing education courses approved to satisfy the continuing education requirements for renewal of a license, registration, or certificate in this State.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
