SYNOPSIS

Requires Fish and Game Council to establish summer bow and arrow hunting season.

CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT

     As introduced.

An Act concerning bow and arrow hunting during summer months and supplementing Title 23 of the Revised Statutes.

Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

     1.    The Fish and Game Council shall establish each year an open season for deer, and for such other game animals the council deems appropriate, for hunting with a bow and arrow during summer months on privately-owned cultivated land.

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

STATEMENT

This bill requires the Fish and Game Council to establish a bow and arrow season for deer, and for such other game animals the council deems appropriate, on privately-owned cultivated lands during the summer months.  Allowing hunting with a bow and arrow during the summer would assist farmers in managing wildlife populations during the height of growing season.  Currently, the State Fish and Game Code does not provide for a bow and arrow season in the summer months.  This bill would amend the law to direct the council to include each year in the State Fish and Game Code a season for hunting with a bow and arrow on cultivated lands during the summer.
