STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve
A RESOLUTION urging the federal government to reduce the federal deficit by the amount of certain foreign aid.
Whereas, the global economic slowdown has made national debt a pressing issue; and
Whereas, the United States has historically been extremely generous in distributing aid to countries around the world in dire need; and
Whereas, some of those countries, such as China, are no longer in such dire need and instead have become global superpowers that have loaned the United States money; and
Whereas, in 2008 the United States gave $68 million in aid to China while owing $1.16 trillion dollars to the Chinese government; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the New Hampshire house of representatives urges the federal government to reduce the debt the United States owes to another country by the amount of foreign aid it proposes to give to that country; and
That copies of this resolution, signed by the speaker of the house of representatives, be sent by the house clerk to each member of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
