STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Nineteen
AN ACT making technical corrections in the department of education.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 School Organization; Professional Standards Board; Membership. Amend RSA 186:60, I(a) to read as follows:
(a) The [director of the division of education analytics and resources] commissioner of the department of education, or designee, who shall be the executive secretary of the board;
2 Professional Standards Board; Powers and Duties. Amend RSA 186:60, VI(d) to read as follows:
(d) The board shall maintain records and minutes of its meetings and shall file them in the [office of teacher education and professional standards] bureau of credentialing.
3 Council for Teacher Education; Membership. Amend RSA 190:2 to read as follows:
190:2 Members. The council for teacher education shall consist of: the commissioner of education, or designee, and the chairman of the department of education of the university of New Hampshire, or designee; 3 members appointed by them for terms not exceeding 3 years, one from a private educational institution, one from the professional personnel of the public schools and one layman; and the presidents of Keene state college and Plymouth state university, or staff members designated by them; provided that additional members may be appointed by these 7 for such terms as they may determine. Members of the council shall be entitled to reimbursement by the state board of education for mileage and expenses incurred in the performance of their required duties. The state board of education shall furnish the council with suitable meeting facilities, administrative assistance, and necessary supplies.
4 Department of Education; Division of Educator Support and Higher Education. Amend RSA 21-N:8-a, II(a)(9) to read as follows:
(9) Two members to be appointed by the governor and council, [on recommendation by the American Council for Professional Education and Training,] who shall be residents of the state and shall represent private postsecondary career schools.
5 Tuition Repayment Program; CART Provider. Amend RSA 200-M:2 to read as follows:
200-M:2 CART Provider and Sign Language Interpreter Net Tuition Repayment Program Established. The department of education, [division of educator support and higher education] division of workforce innovation shall administer a program for the promotion, acquisition, and retention of CART providers and sign language interpreters in the state.
6 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
