AN ACT permitting foster parents to intervene in a legal proceeding involving the custody of a child in their care.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eighteen

 

AN ACT permitting foster parents to intervene in a legal proceeding involving the custody of a child in their care.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  New Section; Child Protection Act; Foster Parent; Right to Intervene.  Amend RSA 169-C by inserting after section 19-e the following new section:

169-C:19-f  Foster Parent; Right to Intervene.  Any foster parent who has had continuous care of a child for more than 15 months may intervene as an interested party in any proceeding under this chapter regarding the custody of the child.  Such intervention may be made anonymously or in the name of the foster parent.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect January 1, 2019.
