A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate advance planning funds for an additional campus of the north carolina school of science and mathematics.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Department of Administration, in conjunction with the Departments of Public Safety, Health and Human Services, and Public Instruction, shall identify the State‑owned real property in Burke County that is most suitable for construction of an additional campus of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics capable of serving 300 students at a time. No later than January 1, 2015, the Department of Administration shall report the site it has identified to the chairs of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Education/Higher Education, the chairs of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, and the Fiscal Research Division.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to The University of North Carolina the sum of two million four hundred thousand dollars ($2,400,000) for the 2014‑2015 fiscal year for advance planning of a campus of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics that is capable of serving 300 students and that is to be located at the property identified pursuant to Section 1 of this act.

SECTION 3.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2014.
