A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to amend a budget provision on teachers in geographically isolated k‑12 schools to remove a limitation.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. Section 7.26 of S.L. 2009‑451 reads as rewritten:
"SECTION 7.26. The State Board of Education shall

geographic isolation of the school. In administering this policy with regard
to a school located in a local school administrative unit in which the average
daily membership is less than 1.5 per square mile, policy, the State
Board of Education shall, at a minimum:
(1) Allot teachers to the geographically isolated school on the basis of one classroom teacher per grade level; and
(2) Allot teachers to the remainder of the local school administrative unit under the regular teacher allotment formula.
The State Board of Education may allot additional teachers to the local school administrative unit if demographic conditions warrant."
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law.
