A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT authorizing the legislative research commission to study effective evidence‑based strategies for preventing opioid misuse and overdose.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. The Legislative Research Commission is authorized to study effective evidence‑based strategies for preventing opioid misuse and overdose. In conducting the study, the Commission shall examine at least all of the following:
(1) The average age of individuals misusing opioids.
(2) How individuals misusing opioids began misusing them.
(3) The length of time individuals misusing opioids have been misusing them.
SECTION 2. The Legislative Research Commission may make an interim report to the 2017 General Assembly, 2018 Regular Session, and shall make its final report to the 2019 General Assembly.
SECTION 3. This act becomes effective July 1, 2017.
