A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to allow hunting on sunday on private land with permission of the owner.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 103‑2 reads as rewritten:

"§ 103‑2.  Hunting on Sunday.

(a)        If any person shall, except in defense of his own property, property and except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, hunt on Sunday, having with him a shotgun, rifle, or pistol, he shall be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor. Provided, that the provisions hereof shall not be applicable to military reservations, the jurisdiction of which is exclusively in the federal government, or to field trials authorized by the Wildlife Resources Commission. Wildlife protectors are granted authority to enforce the provisions of this section.

(b)        A person may hunt on Sunday on privately owned land if the person is the owner of the property or if the person has written permission dated and signed by the owner of the property to hunt on Sunday on that property."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
