A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to provide that an assistant principal who becomes a principal shall receive at least the same pay as when employed as an assistant principal in the local school ADMINISTRATIVE unit.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 115C‑285(a) is amended by adding a new subdivision to read:
"(9) An assistant principal who becomes a principal without a break in service shall be paid, on a monthly basis, at least as much as he or she would earn as an assistant principal employed by that local school administrative unit."
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2015, and applies to all assistant principals who become initially employed as principals on or after that date.
