A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR SCHOOL‑BASEd and SCHOOL‑LINKED ADOLESCENT HEALTH CARE CENTERS, as recommended by the public health study commission.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, the sum of one hundred twenty‑four thousand one hundred seventy dollars ($124,170) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year.  These funds shall be used for the purpose of sustaining the operations of current school‑based and school‑linked adolescent health care centers and for the purpose of expanding the operations of existing centers that have been experiencing growth in caseloads. The Division shall allocate these funds to school‑based and school‑linked adolescent health centers that have been credentialed by the State; are in the process of being credentialed; or as start‑up grants for new school health centers in areas of the State where there are critical needs.

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, the sum of one hundred seventy‑five thousand one hundred eighty‑five dollars ($175,185) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year.  These funds shall be used to add technical support and data collection positions in the School Health Center Program Office.

SECTION 3.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2010.
