A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to extend the joint select study committee on the preservation of biological evidence.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1. Section 7(d) of S.L. 2009‑203 reads as rewritten:

"SECTION 7.(d)  The Committee shall submit a final report on the results of its study, including any proposed legislation, to the General Assembly on or before April 1, 2010.January 1, 2011. The Committee shall file a copy of its report with the President Pro Tempore's office, the Speaker's office, and the Legislative Library. The Committee shall terminate on April 1, 2010,January 1, 2011, or upon the filing of its final report, whichever occurs first."

SECTION 2.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the General Assembly the sum of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) for the 2010‑2011 fiscal year to provide funding to continue the work of the Joint Select Study Committee on the Preservation of Biological Evidence.

SECTION 3.  Section 1 of this act becomes effective March 31, 2010. Section 2 of this act becomes effective July 1, 2010.
