A HOUSE RESOLUTION expressing support for patriot outreach and encouraging all to consider volunteering their services in support of our military and first responders and their families.

Whereas, America was founded on the principles of liberty, opportunity, and justice for all; and

Whereas, we recognize the men and women of our Armed Forces who have valiantly defended these values throughout our nation's history; and

Whereas, thousands have proudly served in the Armed Forces and, by answering the call of duty, risked their lives in response to combat, peacekeeping missions, rescue operations, and humanitarian relief efforts; and

Whereas, mental health is essential to everyone's overall health and well‑being; and

Whereas, our brave citizens will face normal challenges readjusting from the stress of combat to their civilian lives; and family members experience emotional challenges coping with a loved one in danger; and

Whereas, Patriot Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit organization, founded on September 7, 2006, has provided simple, effective, nonintrusive support and was designed to bridge the gap between those who seek help and the silent majority who avoid the stigma; and

Whereas, Patriot Outreach has provided 95,000 Coping Strategies CDs and over 41,000 downloads to members of all branches of the Armed Forces, veterans, first responders, government civilians, battlefield contractors, and their families; and

Whereas, these requests do pay tribute to the testimonials attesting to their effectiveness in combating anger, stress, pain, combat stress, and even posttraumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D.). The most notable bulk requests have come from the  82nd Airborne Division (5,000), the 91st Division (3,000), Fort Hood (3,500), Joint Task Force Headquarters (1,500), USO (1,000), and the Iowa VFW (8,000); Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

SECTION 1.  The House of Representatives expresses support for Patriot Outreach and encourages all to consider volunteering their services in support of our military and first responders and their families.

SECTION 2.  This resolution is effective upon adoption.
