A RESOLUTION TO AMEND SENATE RULE NO. 34 TO PROVIDE THAT SENATORS AND SENATE STAFF SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ENGAGE IN PRIVATE DISCOURSE ON THE SENATE FLOOR WHILE THE SENATE IS IN SESSION EXCEPT AT THE SIDES OF THE SENATE CHAMBER.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That Senate Rule No. 34 is amended to read as follows:
34. No Senator shall entertain private discourse while the President is putting a question or addressing the Senate. Senators shall not be permitted to interrupt another while such other is speaking except by rising to call to order or as provided in Rule No. 69. Beginning with the 2011 Regular Session, no Senator or Senate staff member shall entertain private discourse on the floor of the Senate while the Senate is in session except at the sides of the Senate chamber.
