A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE ST. ANDREW'S EPISCOPAL SCHOOL "SAINTS" BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH BRIAN CRONIN FOR WINNING ITS SECOND 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THREE YEARS.
WHEREAS, led by Dandy Dozen Rashad Bolden's unbelievable postseason (33.0 ppg) run the St. Andrew's "Saints" Basketball Team ended Velma Jackson's 34-0 run in Class 3A to capture St. Andrew's second 3A State Championship in three years; and
WHEREAS, the Saints finished the 2019-2020 season with a school record of 29 wins. The team record was 29-6; and
WHEREAS, Road to Playoffs: defeated Tylertown, Southeast Lauderdale, Yazoo County, Holly Springs and Velma Jackson; and
WHEREAS, Arness Georgetown, Noel Wiggs, Josh Tucker and Jonathan Buckley are Seniors on the team. Arness Georgetown, Noel Wiggs, Jonathan Buckley, Rashad Bolden, Larry Day and Michael John Davis were also members of the 2018 St. Andrew's State Championship Team. The St. Andrew's Boys Basketball 2019-2020 Team Roster: Michael John Davis, G; Rashad Bolden, G; Josh Tucker, G; Javion Johnson, G; Mark Edward Wilson, G; Jake Dowdell, G; Jameson McMillan, G; Christian Simms, C; Larry Day, G; Aaron Moore, F; JC Cook, F; Arness Georgetown, F; and Noel Wiggs, C; Head Coach Brian Cronin; Assistant Coaches: Ontario Harper, Michael Timmer and JeMario Rugley; and Manager, Jonathan Buckley; and
WHEREAS, the Basketball Program at St. Andrew's has had many successes over the years. St. Andrew's has been fortunate enough to consistently have elite players, and it is with great pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby congratulate the St. Andrew's Episcopal School "Saints" Basketball Team and Coach Brian Cronin for winning its second 3A State Championship in three years and extend to the players, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Brian Cronin for the team; Athletic Director, DeWayne Cupples; St. Andrew's Head of School, Tom Sheppard; forwarded to the St. Andrew's Board of Trustees and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
