A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE HANCOCK HIGH SCHOOL "LADY HAWKS" GIRLS GOLF TEAM AND COACH CHIP BOURG FOR WINNING THE 2023 MHSAA CLASS 6A GIRLS GOLF STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Hancock High School "Lady Hawks" Girls Golf Team won the 2023 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 6A Girls Golf State Championship held on the weekend of October 27, 2023; and

     WHEREAS, the team scored 155 in Round 1 and 159 in Round 2 for an overall total of 314 in the Championship Round to lead the field of nine teams; and

     WHEREAS, the 2023 "Lady Hawks" Golf Team includes:  Kenley Archer, Addison Russell, Karstyn Altese, Kaylee Mays, Mary Taylor McAlpin and Ava Merwin; and Coach Chip Bourg; and

     WHEREAS, it is with pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Hancock High School "Lady Hawks" Girls Golf Team and Coach Chip Bourg for winning the 2023 MHSAA Class 6A Girls Golf State Championship, and extend to the team, coach, parents and sponsors our best wishes for success in future seasons.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Chip Bourg, forwarded to Hancock High School Principal Ms. Tara Ladner and the Hancock County Board of Education, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
