WHEREAS, Emma Cameron was crowned Miss Rodeo America 2024 on December 10th at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Prior to being selected, the 24-year-old represented the Land of Enchantment as Miss Rodeo New Mexico 2023; and

WHEREAS, the historic southwest of Santa Fe helped fuel Emma's passion for rodeo at an early age.  Her participation and dedication to high school rodeo culminated with her being crowned the National High School Rodeo Queen in 2018.  After graduating with honors from Cornell University, Emma worked as a commodity risk-management analyst in Kansas City before moving back to the Southwest, where she worked as a diagnostic technical specialist in the animal health industry; and

WHEREAS, in her free time, she enjoys rodeoing, showing ranch riding and reined cow horses, weightlifting, and working with 4-H and youth rodeo organizations.  After her reign as Miss Rodeo America, she plans to attend law school and pursue a career representing producers to ensure sustainability of the agriculture industry.  Outside of the rodeo and agricultural arenas, she has a special place in her heart for foster children and children who face difficult circumstances as they try to learn who they are in the world; and

WHEREAS, during her reign as the official representative of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, Emma will travel approximately 50,000 miles and appear at nearly 150 rodeo performances, as well as making appearances at schools, civic groups, and other special events educating the public and creating awareness about the sport of rodeo, its sponsors, and its opportunities.  During her reign, she will represent and promote rodeo, agriculture, and the western way of life to more than two million people.  Emma will serve as a spokesperson at a variety of promotional events, and serve as a model in commercial advertisements for western retailers, publications, sponsors, and other service providers to the western industry; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we welcome Miss Rodeo America to the Hospitality State:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Emma Cameron as Miss Rodeo America 2024 and welcome her to Mississippi on the occasion of the Dixie National Livestock and Rodeo Show:
