A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING SANDRA CASSIBRY FOR BEING SELECTED AS INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE PERKINSTON CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Sandra Cassibry, a resident of Perkinston, Mississippi, has been selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Cassibry, a Visual Arts Instructor, has taught in the Fine Arts Department on the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past seven years with a total of 23 years of teaching experience; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Cassibry received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Southern Mississippi, and Master of Education and Master of Art Education degrees from William Carey College; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Cassibry serves as a member of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Alumni Association; Bulldog Club; Festival of Lights Planning Committee; planned/hosted summer Gulf Coast Clay Conference; PAAW Summer Visual Arts Camp Director/Instructor; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Cassibry is a member of the National and Mississippi Art Education Associations; Stone County Arts Council; Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education; Mississippi Reading Association; Telling Trees Project; Mississippi Art Education Association; Project Leader for Longleaf and Me A to Z book; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Cassibry was the 2009 Humanities Award recipient; Community Mural/Mosaic Project Artist/Coordinator; Host for annual Stone County Arts Council/Community Arts Shows; and Stone County Economic Development Partnership; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this professional educator, who has dedicated her career to teaching the young people of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Sandra Cassibry for being selected as Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Sandra Cassibry, forwarded to the Board of Trustees of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
