A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL "JAGUARS" BOYS SOCCER TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING 2013-2014 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE MHSAA 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, Madison Central High School, led by Head Soccer Coach Cecil Hinds, will add another State Championship to its trophy case for soccer.  The Jaguars won the school's 2nd State Title in Boys Soccer on February 7, 2014, defeating Brandon 3-0 at Arrow Field to claim the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) 6A State Championship for the second year in a row.  Furthermore, this Jaguar Boys Soccer Team finished in First Place nationally in MaxPrep's Winter Soccer Rankings which includes eight states that play soccer during the same time of the year; and

     WHEREAS, the Jaguars finished the 2013-2014 season with an overall record of 21 wins, one loss and two ties.  The Jaguars edged out Northwest Rankin High School 2-1 to win the North State Championship Title.  The game was scoreless at halftime then the Jaguars fell by one point in the 54th minute of the game only to answer with a goal by Connor Johnson off a shot from Luke Comfort.  Then in the final minutes, Eric Benton headed in a long ball by Derek Marshall to win the game 2-1 and sent the Jaguars to the Championship Game against Brandon; and

     WHEREAS, the Championship Roster includes, Seniors:  Malik Barakat, Eric Benton, Austin Bradford, Derek Marshall, Lewis Tillman, Patrick Wagner and Gillian Watson; Juniors:  Devin Brown, Ian Carmichael, Judson Chastain, Karthik Kota, Joseph Lewing, Alden Lewis, Joshua Rowland, BJ Sanders, Bradley Smith, Tyler McKenzie and Patrick Ross; Sophomores:  Nolan Ahlrich, Zach Bailey, Ridge Brohaugh, Luke Comfort, Gage Giles, Christian Hinostroza-Rodriguez, Connor Johnson, Michael Kroeze, Branden Livingston, William Pratt and Nicky Rugnath; and Freshmen:  Cole Falgout, Josh Hinkle, Ulises Hinostroza-Rodriguez, Stephen Lick, Seth Manning, Harrison McKinnis, Rahil Rugnath and Parker Trawick.  Head Coach Cecil Hinds; Assistant Coaches Paul VanHoydonk and Aubrey Weems; volunteer Coach Ashley Davis; team Managers include Chris Lofton, Brandon Steadman and Alyana White; and Athletic Director Coach Bobby Hall; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this accomplishment by a team of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2013-2014 Madison Central Jaguars Boys Soccer Team and Head Coach Cecil Hinds for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) 6A State Championship, and extend to the players, coaches and parents our best wishes on this occasion and for future successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Head Coach Cecil Hinds and Principal Austin Brown, forwarded to the Madison County School Board, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
