Senate Concurrent Resolution 595

(As Adopted by Senate and House)

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MISSISSIPPI DENTISTS AND DENTAL LABORATORIES FOR VOLUNTEERING AND SUPPORTING DONATED DENTAL SERVICES WHICH HAS PROVIDED OVER THREE MILLION DOLLARS IN DONATED DENTAL TREATMENT AND ORAL HEALTH CARE TO MISSISSIPPI'S MOST VULNERABLE AND NEEDY ADULT CITIZENS.

WHEREAS, Donated Dental Services is a direct care service program of Dental Lifeline Network that was introduced in our state in 1995 by the Mississippi Dental Association and funded by the Mississippi Division of Medicaid; and

WHEREAS, Donated Dental Services connects dentists and dental laboratories that donate treatment and dental lab work to Mississippi's most vulnerable individuals - elderly, adult special-needs patients and medically at-risk adults - who do not have the financial means to obtain much needed dental treatment; and

WHEREAS, of this date, these volunteers have donated over Three Million Dollars in dental treatment, thus making a difference in the lives of over 1,500 elderly or disabled Mississippians who had nowhere else to turn for dental treatment.  These individuals were restored to a status of oral health that enabled them to maintain or improve their overall health status; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend the work of those who seek to make a difference in the lives of those in their respective communities:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do commend Donated Dental Services, Mississippi Dental Association dentist member volunteers, Mississippi Dental Laboratory volunteers, and the Mississippi Division of Medicaid for this significant milestone, over Three Million Dollars in donated dental treatment over the past few years, and express our warmest wishes for continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be furnished to Dental Lifeline Network - Donated Dental Services Program, Mississippi Dental Association, Mississippi Dental Laboratory Association, and the Mississippi Division of Medicaid, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
