By the 1970s, Peavey amplifiers with their signature silver-striped design were widely popular with musicians from local church players to stadium-filling pros. In 1993, they brought the audio system world into the digital age with their revolutionary MediaMatrix. The sound systems are installed at some of the biggest venues around the world, including Disney World, the Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport and London's Wembley Stadium; and
WHEREAS, back home, the Peavey company produced the Mississippi GRAMMY Celebration series with former Governor Haley Barbour in partnership with The Recording Academy to promote the state as the Birthplace of America's Music. The events, which showcased legends such as B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Pinetop Perkins and Charley Pride, laid the groundwork for the GRAMMY Museum Mississippi in Cleveland; and
WHEREAS, Hartley and his wife, Mary, have enjoyed international business success from their home base in east Mississippi. Mary serves as company President. She is a recipient of the coveted She Rocks "Icon Award" by the Women's International Music Network. A great advocate for both children and the Arts, Mary has served on the Board of the National Afterschool Alliance and as an advocate for the National Arts Council; and
WHEREAS, in 2017, the Peaveys donated a facility to the Newton County School District, valued at $3 Million. Named the Peavey Annex, Mrs. Peavey said she hoped there would be "renewed investment in Arts education as a result of this donation," noting that "the Arts inspire the innovation our state needs to compete in the global economy"; and
