A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. LINDA NIX FOR BEING SELECTED AS "INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR" AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Nix, a resident of Vancleave, Mississippi, has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and
WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of his or her teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Nix, a Science Instructor, has been employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for the past nine years; and
WHEREAS, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Biology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biology Education from The University of Southern Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Linda Nix has worked as a Science Teacher for Pass Christian High School, an Excelerate in STEM Mentor and an advisement coordinator for the School of Science and Kinesiology for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College prior to her career as a Science Instructor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend such an outstanding teacher as Dr. Nix, who has dedicated her career to teaching the students of the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Linda Nix for being selected as "Instructor of the Year" at the Jackson County Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to her our most sincere wishes for success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Dr. Linda Nix, forwarded to the President of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
