A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE BROOKHAVEN ACADEMY "COUGARS" VARSITY CHEERLEADING SQUAD AND HEAD COACH VALARIE OGLESBY FOR WINNING THE 2012 MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS (MAIS) AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Brookhaven Academy "Cougars" Varsity Cheerleading Squad, under the leadership of Head Coach Valarie Oglesby and Assistant Coach Zachary Cain, won the 2012 Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Class AA State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Brookhaven Academy Cougars 2012 Cheerleaders MAIS AA State Championship roster:  Emily Allbritton, Ashlea Bardwell, Anna Carollo, Rebecca Harvey, Jordan Jackson, Olivia Lofton, Ashton Rials, Anna Smith, Caroline Stewart, Morgan Walker, Madison Warren, Marlee Watts, Hillary Wilson and Lindsey Winborne; and

     WHEREAS, the mission at Brookhaven Academy is to provide a Christian-based, college preparatory curriculum in which each student is challenged to achieve excellence and mature spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2012 Brookhaven Academy "Cougars" Varsity Cheerleading Squad and Head Coach Valarie Oglesby for winning the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools AA State Championship, and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future athletic and academic successes.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Head Coach Valarie Oglesby and Brookhaven Academy Headmaster Julie Wright, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
