A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING RIDGELAND MAYOR GENE MCGEE UPON HIS ELECTION TO THE NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES (NLC) BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

     WHEREAS, the National League of Cities (NLC) elected new leadership including Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee to its board of directors; and

     WHEREAS, officers and directors were named at the Congress of Cities and Exposition held November 13-16, 2013, in Seattle, Washington.  Mayor McGee will serve a two-year term on the board of directors; and

     WHEREAS, McGee has also served as the Vice Chair of the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee of the National League of Cities for 2013; and

     WHEREAS, Mayor McGee is the only representative from Mississippi serving the leadership of the National League of Cities.  The National League of Cities is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities; and

     WHEREAS, this is a great opportunity for Mayor McGee to help set policy that will not only be good for Ridgeland and Mississippi, but will benefit our nation as a whole; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we commend the civic energy and record of achievement and leadership of this dedicated Mississippi public servant: 

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and congratulate Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee upon his election to the National League of Cities (NLC) Board of Directors at the Congress of Cities and Exposition on November 13, 2013, and extend to Mayor McGee and the City of Ridgeland our best wishes for future growth and success.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Ridgeland Mayor Gene McGee, forwarded to the Ridgeland Board of Aldermen and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
