Senate Concurrent Resolution 513

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE PASCAGOULA RED ALL-STAR AA COACH PITCH BASEBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE DIXIE YOUTH STATE TOURNAMENT AND THE REGION III WORLD SERIES.

WHEREAS, Pascagoula's 8-year-old "Red" All-Star Baseball Team capped off an undefeated postseason on July 29, 2013, when they defeated Hattiesburg 11-5 in the Championship Game of the Dixie Youth Regional Tournament in West Monroe, Louisiana. Pascagoula Red All-Star 8-year-olds completed the Mississippi Dixie Youth Baseball Association State Tournament and the Regional III World Series undefeated; and

WHEREAS, Faby Garcia smashed a grand slam home run to help stake Pascagoula to a 10-0 lead before Hattiesburg rallied to give Pascagoula its closest decision of the tournament. Earlier in the double elimination round among the final four teams, Pascagoula blanked Hattiesburg 14-0 and then topped Peachtree Ridge, Georgia, 17-7 to clinch a spot in the Championship Game; and

WHEREAS, the Regional Championship is as far as the 8-year-olds can compete in Mississippi Dixie Youth Baseball, which hosts national World Series tournaments for age divisions 12 and up; and

WHEREAS, the Pascagoula Red All-Stars, the Mississippi State Champions, dominated the tournament, winning many of its games in four innings; and

WHEREAS, the Pascagoula Red All-Star Baseball Team Roster is: Max Askew, Cole Tingle, Kaden Irving, Keilon Parnell, Davison Stokes, Quincy Roberts, Red Robinson, Houston Johnson, Aiden Green, Peyton Russell, Mo Gregory and Fabi Garcia; Coaches are Maurice Gregory, Adam Askew, JR Russell, Gary Roberts and Tiger Stokes; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we acknowledge the sportsmanship and enthusiasm of the Mississippi Dixie Youth Baseball Association and these future athletes who have brought honor to their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby congratulate the Pascagoula "Red" All-Star AA 8-year-old Coach Pitch Baseball Team for winning the Dixie Youth State Tournament and the Region III World Series Championship, and extend our best wishes to the players, coaches, parents and sponsors for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the Pascagoula Red Baseball Team, forwarded to the Mississippi Dixie Youth Baseball Association and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
