Senate Bill 3037

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO PURCHASE RADAR SPEED DETECTION EQUIPMENT FOR USE BY THE SHERIFF AND DEPUTIES IN ENFORCING THE SPEED LAWS OF THE COUNTY ROADS OF RANKIN COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County, Mississippi, is expressly authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to purchase radar speed detection equipment, and to authorize the sheriff and his deputies to use the equipment to enforce the speed laws on any public road, street or highway within Rankin County, excluding any interstate highway, which is located outside the corporate limits of any incorporated municipality.  However, no fine shall be levied in association with the issuance of a citation resulting from a speeding violation detected by a sheriff or deputy sheriff through the use of radar speed detection equipment.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
