Senate Bill 3028

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF SPECIAL FUNDS TO THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO DEFRAY EXPENSES OF THE PEARL AND LEAF RIVERS RAILS-TO-TRAILS RECREATIONAL DISTRICT FOR BRIDGE REPAIRS AND TRAIL OVERLAY REPAIRS ON THE LONGLEAF TRACE FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the Department of Transportation funds for the purpose of defraying expenses of the Mississippi Department of Transportation for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021 $1,450,000.00.

     SECTION 2.  Of the funds appropriated in Section 1 of this act, Four Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($450,000.00) shall be used to defray expenses of the Pearl and Leaf Rivers Rails-To-Trails Recreational District for bridge repairs on the Longleaf Trace between Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Prentiss, Mississippi.

     SECTION 3.  Of the funds appropriated in Section 1 of this act, One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) shall be used to defray expenses of the Pearl and Leaf Rivers Rails-To-Trails Recreational District for trail overlay repairs on the Longleaf Trace between Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Prentiss, Mississippi.

     SECTION 4.  The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer, and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers, in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 5.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2020.
