Senate Bill 2966

AN ACT TO BAN TOPIX.COM IN MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The cyber-crime division of the Office of the Mississippi Attorney General shall investigate and, if appropriate, prosecute, complaints made by Mississippi citizens against anonymous postings on Internet websites.  Only a person who is the subject of an anonymous posting, or the parent, guardian or conservator of a minor or incompetent subject of an anonymous posting, shall have standing to file a complaint under the provisions of this section.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2011.
