MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE

Senate Bill 2947

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ELVIS PRESLEY MEMORIAL FOUNDATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF COMPLETING PHASE III OF "MASTER PLAN 2000"; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  The following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation for the purpose of completing Phase III of "Master Plan 2000" for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2014, and ending June 30, 2015 $ 1,300,000.00.

     SECTION 2.  It is the intent of the Legislature that the funds appropriated under Section 1 shall be used to fund Phase III of the Elvis Presley Birthplace Master Plan 2000 developed as a destination tourist attraction by the Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation, to include the following venues to be built adjacent to the 15 acre property:

          (a)  A walking trail with narrative plaques explaining Elvis' boyhood experiences;

          (b)  Amphitheater grounds for public performances and stage productions;

          (c)  A picnic pavilion and parking;

          (d)  Public restrooms; and

          (e)  An overlook pavilion with transformational statues of Elvis Presley.

     SECTION 3.  The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers, in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2014.
