AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 19-19-8, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REVISE THE AMOUNT OF COMPENSATION FOR CONSTABLES WHEN SERVING AS JUSTICE COURT BAILIFF; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 19-19-8, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
19-19-8. A constable that serves as a bailiff in justice court for criminal cases may be paid by the county in an amount not to exceed Fifty-five Dollars ($55.00) for each day, or part thereof, for which he serves as bailiff when the court is in session.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2012.
