AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AND ITS POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS FROM DISCRIMINATING AGAINST, OR GRANTING PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT TO, ANY INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP ON THE BASIS OF RACE, SEX, GENDER, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, COLOR, ETHNICITY OR NATIONAL ORIGIN IN THE OPERATION OF PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT, PUBLIC EDUCATION OR PUBLIC CONTRACTING; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The State of Mississippi and its political subdivisions, including, but not limited to, public colleges and universities, shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, color, ethnicity or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education or public contracting.

     For purposes of this section, the terms "State of Mississippi" and "political subdivisions" shall have the meanings as provided in Section 11-46-1.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
