AN ACT TO CREATE A NEW SECTION IN TITLE 49, CHAPTER 7, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO ALLOW THE OPERATION OF ELECTRIC BICYCLES ON ALL ROADS PRESCRIBED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS IN WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREAS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE DEPARTMENT; TO DIRECT THE COMMISSION ON WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS TO PROMULGATE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE REASONABLE AND SAFE OPERATION OF ELECTRIC BICYCLES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The department shall allow the operation of electric bicycles on all roads prescribed by the department in wildlife management areas under its jurisdiction.
(2) The commission shall promulgate rules and regulations for the reasonable and safe operation of electric bicycles in accordance with subsection (1) of this section.
SECTION 2. Section 1 of this act shall be codified in Title 49, Chapter 7, Mississippi Code of 1972.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2020.
