AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION SHALL ALLOW MEMBER SCHOOLS TO PARTICIPATE IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AGAINST SCHOOLS WITH HOME-SCHOOLED STUDENTS AND AGAINST SCHOOLS THAT ARE NOT ACCREDITED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) As used in this section, the term "extracurricular" means any school-authorized or education-related activity occurring during or outside the regular instructional school day including, but not limited to, academic teams, athletics, art, band, choir, honor societies, music and theatre.
(2) The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) shall allow member schools to participate in extracurricular activities against teams that have home-schooled students representing the school.
(3) The Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) shall allow member schools to participate in extracurricular activities against schools that are not accredited by the Department of Education.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2021.
