Senate Bill 2611
AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT A POWER OF ATTORNEY OR LIMITED POWER OF ATTORNEY SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED AS A SUPPORTING DOCUMENT WITH AN APPLICATION FOR A NEW CERTIFICATE OF TITLE ON MOTOR VEHICLES PURCHASED OUT OF STATE; TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE TO UPDATE ITS RULES AND REGULATIONS IN CONFORMITY THERETO; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Beginning July 1, 2020, a power of attorney or limited power of attorney shall not be required as a supporting document with an application for a new certificate of title on motor vehicles purchased out of state. The Department of Revenue shall update its rules and regulations in conformity with this section.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2021.
