AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY
COLLEGE BOARD AND THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF STATE INSTITUTIONS OF
HIGHER LEARNING FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAINING EMPLOYEES
RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING COMPLIANCE WITH TITLE IX AND CLERY
ACT/VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT (VAWA) AT THE PUBLIC COMMUNITY
COLLEGES AND PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES TO PROVIDE ONGOING PREVENTION
PROGRAMS FOR DOMESTIC/DATING VIOLENCE AND STALKING AND OTHER
ISSUES RELATED TO THE FEDERAL VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT (VAWA)
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2016; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Mississippi Community College Board for the purpose of training Title IX Coordinators at the public community colleges to provide ongoing prevention programs for domestic/dating violence and stalking and other issues related to the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2015, and ending June 30,
2016................................................ $75,000.00.
SECTION 2. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning for the purpose of providing systemwide training for employees responsible for ensuring compliance with Title IX and Clery Act/VAWA at the public universities to provide ongoing prevention programs for domestic/dating violence and stalking and other issues related
to the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2015, and ending June 30,
2016............................................... $45,000.00.
SECTION 3. Because training needs vary among the public community colleges, any colleges seeking funds to assist in training efforts for Title IX Coordinators shall submit detailed plans to the Mississippi Community College Board outlining how they propose that the funds would be spent. In order to ensure consistent, high-quality training across all campuses and productive and efficient use of the funds, it shall be the responsibility of the Mississippi Community College Board to spend funds and/or distribute funds to the public community colleges.
SECTION 4. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 5. Any funds not used by July 1, 2016, shall lapse into the General Fund.
SECTION 6. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2015.
