AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 49-15-86, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REQUIRE LICENSES FOR THE COMMERCIAL TAKING OF SALTWATER CRABS TO APPLY TO THE VESSELS USED RATHER THAN EACH CREW MEMBER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 49-15-86, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     49-15-86.  (1)  Each * * * person vessel used in catching or taking any saltwater crabs in the waters of the State of Mississippi for commercial purposes shall obtain a license from the * * * commission department and shall pay an annual resident license fee of Seventy-five Dollars ($75.00) or an annual nonresident license fee of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) * * * on each boat used therefor.

     (2)  The * * * commission department may require a recreational crabber's license for an administrative fee not to exceed Five Dollars ($5.00).

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
