Senate Bill 2546

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO HARVEY SCOTT HANEY OF CLARKE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Harvey Scott Haney of Clarke County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction of the crime of receiving stolen property on May 1, 2007 in Clarke County, Mississippi, and who was sentenced to serve seven (7) years with six (6) years suspended and one (1) year to serve followed by a three-year term of probation in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

     He completed all terms and conditions of his sentence and was discharged on May 19, 2010.  Since that time, the Legislature has been informed that he has conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
