AN ACT TO CREATE NEW SECTION 23-15-9, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROHIBIT ALL PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL, BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT CONTRIBUTIONS FOR CONDUCTING ELECTIONS OR HIRING TEMPORARY ELECTIONS WORKERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following shall be codified as Section 23-15-9, Mississippi Code of 1972:
23-15-9. The Secretary of State, State Board of Election Commissioners, registrar of voters, board of supervisors, governing authority of a municipality, county election commission, county election commissioners, and any other individual or entity charged with the conduct of elections in this state are prohibited from accepting private monetary donations from any source, directly or indirectly, to pay for (a) conducting elections, or (b) compensation to individuals to assist in conducting elections.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.
