AN ACT TO PROHIBIT A COUNTY OR MUNICIPALITY FROM ESTABLISHING A MANDATORY MINIMUM WAGE, LIVING WAGE, MINIMUM NUMBER OF VACATION OR SICK LEAVE DAYS AND TO PROVIDE FOR RELATED MATTERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Setting minimum wage, living wage, vacation and/or sick leave days prohibited. Pursuant to the powers ultimately reserved to the state, no county, municipality or other political subdivision shall establish a mandatory, minimum number of vacation or sick days, whether paid or unpaid, or a minimum/living wage rate which a private employer would be required to pay or grant employees.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2013.
