AN ACT TO ESTABLISH CONCURRENT CRIMINAL JURISDICTION WITH THE UNITED STATES FOR TRYING AND PUNISHING ALL PERSONS FOR OFFENSES COMMITTED ON FEDERAL MILITARY INSTALLATIONS IN THIS STATE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following shall be codified as Section 99-11-2, Mississippi Code of 1972:
99-11-2. (1) Both the federal courts organized under the United States Constitution and its laws, and the several courts of justice organized under the Constitution and laws of the State of Mississippi, shall possess concurrent criminal jurisdiction for trying and punishing all persons in the manner prescribed by federal or state law, for crimes and offenses committed on federal military installations in this state.
(2) The State of Mississippi specifically consents to the United States possessing concurrent criminal jurisdiction for trying and punishing all persons for offenses committed at Camp Shelby Army Base, Columbus Air Force Base, Keesler Air Force Base, Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport and Naval Air Station Meridian.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2011.
