Senate Bill 2377

AN ACT TO REQUIRE ANY STATE AGENCY, DEPARTMENT, INSTITUTION OR POLITICAL SUBDIVISION THEREOF, TO COMPLETELY STRIP ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLE OF ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT MARKINGS, DECALS, SUPPLIES AND OTHER ACCESSORIES BEFORE SELLING OR DISPOSING OF THE VEHICLE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Before selling or disposing of any law enforcement vehicle, any state agency, department, institution, or political subdivision thereof, including counties and municipalities, shall completely strip the vehicle of any law enforcement markings, decals, supplies and other accessories in order to prevent the use by a law enforcement impersonator. 

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2011.
