AN ACT TO CHANGE THE MANNER OF SELECTING THE COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION IN A CERTAIN COUNTY FROM THE ELECTIVE METHOD TO THE APPOINTIVE METHOD; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Effective with the term of office beginning January 1, 2016, in any Class 1 county bordering the Mississippi River having a population in excess of thirty thousand (30,000), according to the 2010 federal decennial census, wherein Mississippi Highway 49 and U.S. Highway 61 intersect, the county superintendent of education shall be appointed by the county board of education.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
