AN ACT TO REQUIRE EVERY MISSISSIPPI GOVERNMENTAL AGENCY, NONGOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION, LOCAL VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION, MEDIA AND COMMERCIAL VENDOR/CONTRACTOR TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MISSISSIPPI EMERGENCY ACCESS PROGRAM FOR REENTRY AND TRANSIT INTO AN ESTABLISHED DISASTER AREA; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Every Mississippi governmental agency, inclusive of political subdivisions and agencies, nongovernmental organization, local volunteer organization, media and commercial vendor/contractor shall participate in the Mississippi Emergency Access Program (MEAP) for reentry and transit into an established disaster area in accordance with the operating procedures established by the Department of Public Safety in coordination with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and local county emergency management agencies. MEAP shall not apply to residents of impacted areas within the disaster area with proper identification.
SECTION 2. Section 1 of this act shall be codified as a new section within Chapter 15, Title 33, Mississippi Code of 1972.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2017.
