Senate Bill 2155
AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT PRIVATE PRISONS AND STATE AGENCIES MAY NOT BUY GOODS FROM AN ENTITY THAT EMPLOYS INMATES FROM A CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM OF ANOTHER STATE UNLESS APPROVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI PRISON INDUSTRIES CORPORATION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Any private prison or governing authority as defined in Section 31-7-1, Mississippi Code of 1972, except the corporation defined in Section 47-5-539, Mississippi Code of 1972, may not procure goods from an entity that employs or uses inmates of a correctional system of another state unless approved by the Mississippi Prison Industries Corporation.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2012.
