AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 83-5-59, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CHANGE THE PUBLICATION REQUIREMENT FOR INSURANCE COMPANIES BY REQUIRING ANNUAL STATEMENT ABSTRACTS TO BE PUBLISHED ON THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE WEB SITE INSTEAD OF PUBLISHED IN A NEWSPAPER; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 83-5-59, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

83-5-59. It shall be the duty of the commissioner to receive and thoroughly examine each annual statement required by this chapter and, if made in compliance with the law of Mississippi, to publish on the Mississippi Department of Insurance Web site an abstract of the annual statement. * * *

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2010.
