A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE TUPELO HIGH SCHOOL GOLDEN WAVE SWIM TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE 11TH STRAIGHT TIME AND FOR AN OVERALL OUTSTANDING SEASON.

     WHEREAS, the Tupelo High School Golden Wave Swim Team reigned victorious at the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 2A State Championship, winning their 11th straight state title with an exceptional score of 125; and

     WHEREAS, the outstanding Golden Wave began the championship meet where they ended it, on top of the podium, and John Michael Caldwell, Hayden Henderson, Ander Pearce McDade and Cooper King won the 200 medley relay in a convincing fashion in 1:39.63, and Donovan Crossen charged the way, winning the 200 freestyle and the 100 free victory in 46.33; and

     WHEREAS, with extraordinary aquatic acumen, endurance and speed, the Golden Wave touched in 1:29.84 in the 200 freestyle relay with the team of Crossen, Henderson, King and Caldwell, and Crossen, McDade, King and Christian Simpson made it a relay trifecta with a 400 free relay victory in 3:23.69; and

     WHEREAS, with tremendous dedication and fortitude, the Golden Wave invested countless hours of consistent training throughout the season and strived to win with unparalleled motivation and determination during the championship meet, and their mental stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment they dove in until the end of the meet signaled their victory; and

     WHEREAS, the team had an overall outstanding season, and the key to their success was the tremendous team spirit and exceptional perseverance, which spawned a rapid succession of amphibious attacks at each swim meet, by the following talented student-athletes:  Joshua Benson, Anders Caldwell, John Caldwell, Taylor Chapman, John Criddle, Donovan Crossen, Andrew Edmonson, Augustine Hayden Henderson, William Hodges, Cooper King, Michael Lothorp, John Marlin, Ander McDade, John McDade, Patton McNeal, Bryce Roby, Christian Simpson, Garrett Timmons and Jake White; and

     WHEREAS, the Golden Wave was exceptionally coached and tremendously inspired by Coach Lucas Smith, who broadened the team's knowledge of the sport and refined their skills in execution; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend outstanding student-athletes, especially those such as the Tupelo High School Golden Wave Swim Team, whose agility and speed in the swimming pool brings honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the Tupelo High School Golden Wave Swim Team for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 2A State Championship for the 11th straight time and for an overall outstanding season and further extend to the team best wishes for success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Tupelo High School, Coach Lucas Smith and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
