A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE HANK LOTT FOR HIS OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI AND WISHING HIM WELL UPON HIS RETIREMENT.

     WHEREAS, the honorable and distinguished Representative Hank Lott will make the 2015 legislative year his last when he retires from the Legislature at the end of the current term of office after four years of dedicated service to the citizens he represents; and

     WHEREAS, a cherished member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, Representative Lott began his legislative career in 2012 after being elected by the citizens of District 101, which is composed of parts of Forrest and Lamar Counties; and

     WHEREAS, born October 7, 1974, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Representative Lott graduated from Sumrall High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Lott, owner of MCS Inc., a construction supply dealer, uses the same passion he has for helping people build anything they dream of to help build up the people of this state while serving as Vice Chairman of the Public Utilities Committee and as a member of the following House Committees:  Conservation and Water Resources, Judiciary A, Judiciary En Banc, Medicaid, Municipalities, Public Health and Human Services, Universities and Colleges, and Youth and Family Affairs; and

     WHEREAS, humble, easygoing and trustworthy, Representative Lott quickly earned the trust and respect of his peers as he diligently worked on a myriad of issues he is passionate about, including attracting jobs to South Mississippi, giving tax relief to families and small businesses, and cutting wasteful spending; and

     WHEREAS, a devout member of the Southern Baptist faith, Representative Lott is looking forward to spending more time in Sumrall upon his retirement from the Legislature with his loving family, including his supportive wife, the former Melinda Cooksey, and their three children, Lauren, Stone and Tucker; and

     WHEREAS, throughout the years, Representative Lott has utilized his leadership skills in the community as an active member of Hattiesburg Homebuilders Association, Forrest/Lamar Forestry Association, Sumrall Development Foundation, Sumrall Lions Club and the Area Development Partnership; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Lott's positive influence on all those who have had the pleasure of working with him will surely be missed in the coming years; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor the legacy of one of our own, who has represented his district, this body and the people of this great state with honor and integrity:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby honor the legislative legacy of Representative Hank Lott, express gratitude for his dedicated service to the people of the State of Mississippi and congratulate him upon his retirement from the Mississippi House of Representatives.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Hank Lott and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
