A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MRS. CLARA JEAN RICHARDSON SIZER AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING.

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Clara Jean Richardson Sizer, affectionately referred to as "Jean" by all who loved and knew her, departed this earthly life at the age of 72, on December 23, 2014, causing great sorrow and loss to her family and many friends; and

     WHEREAS, born on November 16, 1942, in Edwards, Mississippi, Mrs. Sizer was reared in Christian love, along with her eight siblings, by her late parents, Ike D. Richardson and Clara Dozier Richardson; and

     WHEREAS, knowing the importance of receiving an education, Mrs. Sizer attended school in the Edwards School District and Hinds Utica High School in Utica, Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS,  Mrs. Sizer married her high school sweetheart, the late Mr. Willie Sizer, Sr., in 1959, and upon entering the holy bonds of matrimony, Mr. and Mrs. Sizer lived in their hometown of Edwards but later moved to Chicago, Illinois, to seek better employment opportunities for their growing family, which included their six children; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Sizer returned to her home state of Mississippi, after the passing of her loving husband and was employed with Mississippi State Hospital, where she made vast contributions until her retirement in 2002; and

     WHEREAS, a Christian woman who was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards, Mrs. Sizer was a devoted member of Progressive Morning Star Baptist Church; and

     WHEREAS, known for her gregarious personality, Mrs. Sizer was also known for her sense of fashion, green thumb and her love of shopping and dining out, and she also loved to travel with her dear and close friend, Della Wash; and

     WHEREAS, although Mrs. Sizer has crossed the river of life to now stand on golden heavenly shores, the legacy of her memory will continue to live in the hearts of her survivors; and

     WHEREAS, throughout her endeavors, Mrs. Sizer was loving supported by her six children, Ann, Helen, Adrienne, Willie, Andrae and the late Patrick; grandchildren, Tritresher, whom she reared as a daughter, Marcus, Martez, Lenoris, Tecara, Amber, Alexis, Carlin and Cadria as well as great-grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life of such an inspiring and caring individual as Mrs. Clara Jean Richardson Sizer whose life was a beacon of light, strength and love:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life and legacy of Mrs. Clara Jean Richardson Sizer and express deepest sympathy to her family and many friends upon her passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mrs. Clara Jean Richardson Sizer and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
